So-Lo's model 228-01 Stainless Steel Tailsnare is shown below (for use with 295-series 1/2" Adjustable-tension Release handles) .  Model 222-01 (3/4" Stainless Steel Tailsnare) is identical with the exception that is adapted for use with our 299-series Adjustable-tension Release handles.

I.G.F.A. News Update

As of March of 2007 a new ruling has been made by The I.G.F.A. regarding the use of tailsnares; tailsnares now fall under the same guidelines as straight gaffs and flying gaffs.  As a result of this new ruling you cannot use any So-Lo Flying Tailsnares (#222-01 or #228-01) in conjunction with a So-Lo 8' flying gaff handle (Models number 299-18 and 295-18 or older models number 299-08 and 295-08) as THEY WILL EXCEED THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE OVERALL LENGTH per I.G.F.A. regulations; this will disqualify a fish for record consideration as well as I.G.F.A.-sanctioned tournament eligibility.  USE ONLY our Flying Gaff Handle Models number 295-06, 295-16, 299-06 and 299-16 or THE NEW So-Lo Flying Tailsnare Handles models 295-TS and 299-TS, which are designed to give you the maximum allowable tailsnare reach, within the new I.G.F.A. guidelines, when tailsnaring a fish for I.G.F.A. tournaments or record consideration.
